Welcome!
I'm Lizzie, and I'm currently on the verge of completing my Masters degree in Civil Engineering at Newcastle University. These past four years have been an incredible journey filled with ups, downs, and everything in between. But despite the challenges, they've undoubtedly been some of the most rewarding years of my life. Studying Civil Engineering has been an intense academic journey, learning new skills and interacting with various people in group projects on my course. However, amidst the chaos, there were moments of clarity and inspiration that fuelled my passion for this field.
As part of one of my modules, an extraordinary opportunity presented itself: volunteering in Lobitos, Peru, to assist vulnerable communities in need. Our university, in collaboration with EcoSwell, extended this chance to us, and I'm immensely grateful I didn't hesitate to seize it. The projects were challenging, however they offered invaluable hands-on experience and an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The two projects we were given were to construct a cookstove oven and install a solar panel for two families in Lobitos.
